We woke up to a blue sky this morning!  Our first stop was a traditional Spanish market where the girls bought presents and treats including the biggest strawberries ever.

We then went onto a different beach to yesterday where we relaxed in the sunshine for the rest of the morning.  We had lunch in the cafes by the beach before heading back to change for our last hockey fixture.

CD Malaga 91 hosted us once more with a different line up.  Our A team won a resounding 9-2 with the goals spread around between Abbie, Hannah B, Verity, Tash D with two for Olivia and hat trick for Immie! The B team put on an inspired performance in their game with memorable moments including Rachel’s goal.

Back to the hotel for dinner and then for the final evening of fun presentations and a team quiz of questions from the tour.  The presentations included the players of the tour for all teams:
A Netball Abbie L
B Netball Verity P
C Netball Tash P

A Hockey Tash D
B Hockey Rachel H

And one special one to each of our outgoing Y13s who had played their last matches for Sheffield High.

After walking to the beach, the sun rewarded us for our efforts!  Yes the sun came out with patchy clouds as we arrived at the Malaga beach.  Sunbathing, rounders and beach volleyball were the order of the day and a resounding cheer to find lifeguards so the more hardy or should I say fool-hardy could go swimming!  Lunch was either a picnic or a sandwich in the café.

The afternoon saw us play in our first hockey games against an up and coming CD Malaga 91 clubs side.  The A team kicked us off with a fabulous performance ending in a draw 1-1 with the goal coming from a cross from Immie and a great strike by Olivia.  The B team also did extremely well in their match against the same side, learning a great deal especially from some guests who joined in the fun!

The evening was spent in Malaga for the festivities and processions of Holy Week (as well as a choice of meal in the City which ranged from Tapas in a Spanish restaurant to McDonalds!).

Monday 25 March 2013

Up bright and early with the promise of a beautiful sunny day:

We waved goodbye to the lovely Caleta Hotel:

The sunshine lasted all the way to Malaga!  Having checked in, we took the red bus sightseeing tour around the Old Town.

We enjoyed browsing, including eating in the little cafés and shopping amongst the preparations for the Festival for Holy Week.

Dinner and DVD night in with nachos, dips and popcorn - would have been great if the DVD had not had faulty sound!!

Ready for our first hockey games tomorrow!

Sunday 24 March 2013

A busy Sunday!

After a leisurely start we set off on the Tour of the Rock in two minibuses.  With historial anecdotes (hope you listened girls as there is a quiz later in the week!) we toured the local sites including the lighthouse:

And also into St Michael's Cave:

But what drew the most attention were the apes or should I say Monkeys!

After lunch we went on to play our last set of matches:

The C team beat off the Gibralter U14  representative side 26-15:

The B team beat their U14 national team 35-15:

And the A squad beat their U17 European Gold Medallist side 34-23!

We were singing all the way to the Rock!!

Off to Spain in the morning and a very sad goodbye to the gorgeous Caleta Hotel.

Even more happy girls ....!

Happy girls after first matches!

Saturday 23rd

Woke to beautful sunshine across Catalan Bay and we all had a lovely breakfast looking at the sun streaming across the sea.  The whole group got very excited and promtly changed into shorts!

We travelled by bus into town and spent two hours in the shops and cafes.  Our rep Steve met us and we went to the quayside to get the Dolphin Watch tour as the grey clouds gathered!!!  Yes we saw dolphins; yes we got wet; yes we got very, very cold but it was fun!

Safely back on shore we had hot lunches and dried out (or changed into new clothes bought!) and went to the rugby international where we supported our host country who beat Cyprus.  The die-hard supporters stayed the distance for the whole match in our attractive green ponchos handed out at the game.

At last a relaxing two plus hours to chill (or should I say warm back up) in the hotel...  And then off to Pizza Express on the marina for our evening meal.
